Hyde Park
The Hyde Park neighbourhood is in London’s northwest corner. The area was largely rural until it was annexed by the City in 1993 and since then has experienced large residential and commercial development. Most of the housing in Hyde Park was built after the annexation, and consists mainly of single detached houses, townhouses, and some large apartment buildings.
There are three main parks in Hyde Park, each serving different sections of the neighbourhood. Maple Grove and Coronation North Parks each have play structures and swing sets and Cantebury Park has a play structure, swing set, and a soccer field. The intersection of Hyde Park and Fanshawe Park Roads has a large commercial plaza that serves local residents and attracts shoppers from other parts of the city and county. St. Marguerite d’Youville Catholic elementary, Emily Carr elementary school, and St. John Catholic French Immersion Elementary School are in the neighbourhood, as well as Sir Frederick Banting and St. André Bessette secondary schools.
